According to the project leads, the ... Read More »

Save The Young Mammals! A Benefit for Stolen Gear
When I heard that Cley Miller had his equipment stolen, I felt terrible. I don’t know him personally, but I’ve seen the level of intricacy in which he treats his music making process, and I’ve watched him perform on several occasions. I can tell that he didn’t just roll into Guitar Center with a big wad of cash and buy a bunch of generic crap that was suggested to him. He painstakingly went through his options over the years, and came out with the cream of the crop in terms of guitars, amps, pedals, and so on. You don’t just ... Read More »

How To Recover From FPSF
Photograph and article by Laura Coburn Take a shower. Unless Iggy himself touched your shirt, wash it. And once you’ve cleaned up, it is time to begin mental and physical detox. Sleep in. Go to breakfast- swing by Christy’s Doughnuts if you just want something quick and cheap, just in time to crawl back into bed. If you’re feeling more adventurous, head over to Buffalo Grille for some pancakes. After breakfast, and perhaps a bit more sleep, find your closest pool, whip out that sweaty swimsuit you haven’t touched since FPSF, and find a peaceful spot to lay out your ... Read More »

P.L.X.T.X. Rising
BY JACK DANIEL BETZ During their time together, Female Demand rode high on a wave of growing appreciation for power-duo bands like Lightning Bolt (who have seemingly reached the apex of their mainstream popularity with their inclusion on the star-studded Flaming Lips’ album Heady Fwends). Bradley Muñoz and Jonathan Perez took the drum and bass thrasher concept to its limits, beyond its minimalist noise roots, to an acid-drenched, space-rock climax, on their only full-length album, “Outside the Universe.” They turned heads with their intensity, in life, but broke up rather quietly, with Bradley’s Facebook status about selling his bass as ...
