FPH asks the Hard-Hitting Questions: Wild Moccasins

Wild Moccasins get ready to Kick off a tour this Saturday (Photo: Peter Lee)

This Saturday, Houston’s beloved Wild Moccasins kick-off another tour at Fitzgerald’s with LIMB.  No doubt people will be dancing and having a great time, the place will be packed, and it’s almost guaranteed that someone out there is gonna get laid thanks to the the band’s intoxicating upbeat indie-pop. Wild Moccasins (Photo: )

Don’t get us wrong, music is a lot of fun but there is always fucked-up stuff that every band has to deal with – a horrible show, a psycho fan, an out of control band member,  some douche promoter, or, if you are Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull,  a bucket of piss lobbed at you.  We here at the FPH figured it was about time bands shared some of their best “worst” stories from the musical trenches with our readers and so we bring you “Best ___ Ever”  to enshrine some of those moments bands would likely prefer to sweep ... A better choice however would probably be kickass multi-instrumentalist Benjamin Wesley at Dean’s Credit Clothing. Walter’s on Washington will also have a smorgasbord of local bands including B L A C K I E, Fat Tony, and Ghost Town Electric. On Saturday the dashing Young Mammals will be kicking off their tour with Eastern Sea and Buxton. But if you feeling like partying as if it were ... Read More »

Clutch-Time shows for the weekend

blogJeffBeck

I’ve been playing all of my old Jeff Beck vinyl this week and getting psyched for his show at the Verizon Wireless Center on Saturday. This guy is a guitar player’s guitar player; like I read in another Free Press article, if you play guitar, go see this show. He’s played in the Yardbirds and had a fairly successful solo career. His latest album is a little too vanilla for my taste but his discography speaks for itself otherwise. Surf-guitar virtuoso Gary Hoey will be opening for Beck. The Edgar Winters Band and ZZ Top will be playing somewhere in ... Read More »
