The Legend is Born – Ip Man is the third Ip Man film in a series of Hong Kong films about the style of martial arts fighting known as Wing Chun. The Legend is Born is a prequel and features a different actor playing the lead, while at the same time showcasing other actors who appear in all the series’ films.

Ip Man hands down demands to be seen by any fans of martial arts movies and will also appeal to fans of foreign movies and action films. Covering a period of approximately 25 years (1905-1930) the story charts the training and mentoring of Ip Man. The hand-to-hand combat choreography achieves a king of fast and furious and at times deadly kinetic motion. There are a lot of fisticuffs.

Donnie To stars with support from Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao among others. Ip Man was famous for mentoring Bruce Lee. The film is also known as Ip Man Zero. Ip Man’s real life son also appears in the film that plays exclusively, one day only, October 22 at the Alamo Drafthouse West Oaks.
