The new jam-band festival, Waterloo Music Festival, just announced its conception and inaugural lineup. The festival boasts headliner the String Cheese Incident (3 nights) as its top act alongside Joe Russo’s Almost Dead (JRAD) — marking the group’s first-ever Texas show — as well as the Motet, Railroad Earth, Tauk, BoomBox and Marco Benevento. The organizers state that the full lineup will be announced in the following weeks.

Waterloo Music Festival is described as an ”independent festival that celebrates the roots of Austin music culture. The festival will feature three full days of nationally renowned jam bands performing alongside the city’s finest musical acts during a weekend of camping.” The festival will be held at Carson Creek Ranch, a 60+ acre venue 10 minutes from downtown Austin.

The festival’s team notes “acclaimed independent jam band The String Cheese Incident will headline the event and play for all three nights of the festival. The group is known for their diverse sound and commitment to creativity, community, and philanthropy. Other confirmed artists on the inaugural lineup include American rock and Grateful Dead tribute band Joe Russo’s Almost Dead (JRAD) — marking the group’s first-ever Texas show; funk, afrobeat, and jazz-influenced ensemble The Motet; Americana-folk band Railroad Earth; the heavy instrumental rock fusion 4-piece Tauk; American rock and electronic duo BoomBox; and multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer Marco Benevento (also a member of JRAD).”
