It’s taken a good while, but as of late it feels like there are more and more strong females leading the path in Houston hip hop.  While the list of female rappers has certainly grown over the years, one you may not have heard of is Houston’s Sobe Lash.  Mixing punk imagery with an offbeat electronica, Lash has become known for intense and crazed live performances.  In her new video for her single “LiT,” found exclusively here, Lash steps things up without ever getting too loud.

The video and the song both are different from the crazed party vibes that Lash has offered up in the past.  The chill vibe of the track shows the diversity Lash holds in her sound.  Complete with Nirvana lyrics and a chill almost lullaby synth, the song never gets too crazy while still maintaining an ominous tone.  The video, complete with neon religious imagery and silhouettes alongside full frontal images of Lash, offers up a dark yet chill mood that the song itself already brings forth.  The mixture of hues that dance as filters here are pretty engaging, switching from full color, to black and red, and then green and blue, mixing it up like the track already does on its own.

There’s something elemental happening here with what Lash has been up to lately.  Now, with her crazed live sets, Lash offers up yet another side to an already diverse and complex sound, thus changing the rap game even further. You can stream the track here, or just jam it in the video above before catching her at her next performance around town.
