Friday October 21

Hell City Kings
LP/CD Release Party

Ghost Town Electric
The Freakouts
@ Fitzgerald’s

Well,  Say what you want about the Hell City Kings but damn if they don’t know how to promote a record release show.  I got their NSFW flyer a few weeks back as I was sitting eating my lunch at work and checking my e-mail.  Needless to say, my turkey sandwich made an unceremonious trip to the garbage.    Way to go guys!!!

But hairy naked asses and wang wangs aside, the band does know how to turn up the Marshall stacks and break out a rock and roll party even on the most regular of nights so I can only imagine that they will bring down some epic brain crushing shit on Friday.  It’s like Truck-o-saurus on the Simpsons, “If you miss this, you’d better be dead… or in jail… And if you’re in jail, break out!”

Thursday, October 20

Battles, Nisennenmondai @ Fitzgerald’s- The departure of Tyondai Braxton mid-way through the last album didn’t do much in the way of holding the remaining trio back. They rewrote the album and kicked out an album so solid that Gary Newman even pops in.

Sleeping in the Aviary, Grace In Folly, This Time I Brought Bombs @ Super Happy Fun Land- I really dig SITA, nice folks with some good songs that are a little bit folky a little bit indie and very memorable.  Nice to see them drop back in town.

Chip tha Ripper, XV, Doughbeezy, Simple Success @ Warehouse Live (Studio) - CTR is an Ohio rapper who can make a rhyme like “Interior Crocodile Alligator / I Drive a Chevrolet Movie Theater” and get away with it.

Nelo @ House of Blues (Bronze Peacock Room) -OMG, no seriously I had no Idea Justice was still in business.  I remember that Hellhole compilation and they seemed to die out after.  I guess they just picked up shot and moved to Austin.  Go figure… oh yeah Nelo is on this label.

Jefferson Starship, Rare Earth @ Nutty Jerry’s (Winnie)  -I get lost.  Is JS the same thins as Starship?  I dunno all I know is that Airplane did some cool stuff and after that it kind of just sucked.

Luigi’s Haunted Record Jam, featuring Thieves, Gain, Fingers Crossed, Chemistry, Cast Away, Nigh, They Lied, Bear Witness, Dead Streets, & High Tide @ Vinyl Junkie (4202 E.
