This Week’s Featured Show

Wednesday October 10

KeithRowe, Sandy Ewen, Damon Smith
@ 14 Pews (800 Aurora)
8:00 PM – 9:30 PM
pay-what-you-can ($8 – $20)

Maybe this is one for the guitar geeks out there but I for one find Keith Rowe to be pretty fascinating to watch. I saw him ages ago and was totally captivated by his guitar laid across a tabletop as he fiddled and twisted various effects and objects to create some neat sounds. This time though, he will be accompanied by two of our finest imrpovisorsSandy Ewen (guitar) and Damon Smith(bass) which should provide some unexpected twists. In addition, Sandy Ewen’s constantly evolving ensemble of women, whose name changes witheach performance and is donning the name Gooseberry Marmalade this evening, will be performing Scratch Orchestra material selected by Rowe himself. (Scratch Orchestra, for those unfamiliar with it, was a large ensemble of Londoners that grew out of “composition classes taught by the composer Cornelius Cardew at Morley College”[1] which included Rowe as a member.) The night should prove to be quite interesting and a must for local music nerds.
