Applications are live! TEDx Houston is calling for all of you with a remarkable story.
Houston is the fourth biggest city in the United States, a diverse international hub with scientists, social activists, and entrepreneurs. We have commendable schools, the second largest theater district in America, and among the largest medical centers in the world. We are the top city for manufacturing plants and jobs in America. Extraordinary professionals are on every corner of the great city of Houston.
With a city spilling with diversity and passion, TEDx is a forum to share and exchange ideas. TED is “a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading.” Originally a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, TED has now expanded across the nation and holds events regionally. At the TED Conference, inspirational speakers and leading thinkers each talk for 18 minutes, each with something different to say.
In 2009 the TEDx program was born. Independently organized and modeled after the original TED experience, the events allow individuals so disseminate ideas but on a more local level. The Houston event will include a combination of TED talk videos and speakers, promoting discussion in a more intimate environment.
“The individuals involved with TEDxHouston have a passion for this city. We believe in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world. We want to expand the perception of Houston, and introduce the public to the Houstonians who are forging a path to the future. Is that too much to ask?” –TEDx
