The pop music landscape in Houston can either be considered crowded or loose depending on what your definition of it is.  In the world of electro pop, you have to really stand apart from the herd, as it’s pretty crowded no matter what city you’re in.  When I first saw the re-invention Houston’s -Us. went through last year, what I saw was an artist who really wanted to put his best foot forward while still dropping tracks that actually make you dance.  A new look, a new live show, and a toolbox full of tracks, -Us. offered us the chance to debut his latest single, “Without You” before his set this weekend at Day for Night, and we were delighted to debut it exclusively here first.

Kicking things off with a beat cluster that you almost immediately find yourself grooving to, the producer comes in with a softer than expected vocal.  The bridge has a catchy guitar track that adds to the song’s immediacy before the chorus comes in and you find yourself hooked.  Complete with catchy lyrics and a backing vocal track that takes things up a notch, it’s apparent that -Us. has come a long way since his debut release a couple of years ago.  It doesn’t take long where the mix of multiple beats, the producer’s vocals, and varying synths make you want the track to never end.  The end result is another top notch jam that -Us. brings to the table furthering himself from any other electro pop act around, as well as many producers at the same time.

You can catch -Us. perform this track as well as others at this year’s Day for Night festival.  While we all wait for his full length to drop next year, the producer will perform on the yellow stage on Saturday December 17 at 5:30 pm.  Tickets for the two day all ages festival that merges art and sound run between $170 and $700, and there promises to be sets from SOPHIE, Oneohtrix Point Never, Liars, Run The Jewels and many more.
