20HERTZ: Maria Chavez presents REVISITING THOSE WORDS: Failed Attempt as Material — Playing gigs from Marfa to New York, Berlin, and everywhere in between, this former Houstonian sound artist is on fire. (Check out Tex Kerschen’s interview with her in Houston Press.) Tonight, she’ll be breaking records (literally) as part of the Contemporary Arts Museum of Houston’s 20HERTZ lecture/performance series. Come prepared, though — apparently one of her favorite things about being a DJ is taking requests from the audience. 6:30 pm, CAMH, FREE.

FotoFest Artist Tour with Edward Burtynsky — Has anybody seen the FotoFest exhibit at the Silos, yet? Apparently, it’s supposed to be a killer exhibit in an amazing space, but nobody — not even the exhibiting artists — were informed that there have been delays in mounting the show. They have a talk scheduled there on Sunday, so maybe this is the public’s (and the media’s) first chance to see it? Shrug. 11 am, Silos at Sawyer Yard, FREE.
