FFW – The Free Press Music Preview for October 18 – 24, 2012

This Week’s Featured Show

Friday, October 19

Shadow of the Bat-Man
featuring Two Star Symphony
@ Discovery Green
(7:30PM; free!)

The fake 1920’s Batman film - cobbled together from various silent films - is one of the more clever bits of mash-up I’ve seen in a while. It’s pretty funny and clever stuff if you ask me.  In fact, it’s done so well that when I first was watching this I was totally scratching my head thinking, “Wait, didn’t Batman first appear in 1939? What the hell?” only to realize what was really going on. Lucky us, Two Star Symphony will be playing their score to this cheeky film at Discovery Green and given the nice weather combined with the upcoming costumed holiday, this one just beats out Skatestock (who got points for outdoors) and ZZ Top (who also got points as the band are pretty much Texas costumed super-heroes) as the featured show for the week.

If you want to read up on it a bit. There is a nice interview with the twisted editor behind Shadow of the Bat-Man, Andre Perkowski, at Genius Boy Watermelon.  Perkowski, by the way, will be in attendance so make sure to give him a thumbs-up then maybe a smack on the head for being so goofy.
