Oh yeah, there’s other stuff happening this week too…

Thursday, June 2

Face to Face, Strung Out, Blitzkid, The Darlings @ Warehouse Live - Cali pop punk

Dillinger Escape Plan, By the End of Tonight, A dream Asleep, PLF @ Fitzgerald’s - If you need some heavy ass shit to kick off the weekend, look no further than this bill.

The Sunshine Factory, Bloody Knives, Cop Warmth, Featherface @ Fitzgerald’s - The Sunshine factory returns with their dreamy trippy shoe gaze.

Turnin’ Headz: Blank Canvas 1 Year Anniversary Show, featuring Rogue Scholar Alliance (Dirty & Nasty, D-Risha, t.h.e. MisFit Crazy8, Ensane, & The Forces), T.H.E.M. (HasHBrown, Hollywood Floss, & Jon Dew), Kyle Hubbard, Twenty Eleven, Jon Black, Stereo Arcade, Yung Truth, Ensane, Renzo, & DJ Jaycee @ The Mink - If there is not enough hip hop at summer fest youcan always supplement with this showcase of local and regional acts.

Blower, Bald Eagle Burger @ Rudyard’s - chimp rock

World Riot, featuring DJ Lund & ZKent @ The Mink - DJ’s at the Mink yo.

Friday, June 3

Balmorhea, listenlisten, Meryll @ The Mink - listenlisten’s Dog was a phenomenal record and if you liked than then you’ll appreciate their being paired with Austin’s instrumental band Balmorhea who tread some of the same waters.

Eisley, The Narrative, Christie Dupree @ Warehouse Live (Studio) - I’m a sucker for good harmonies and Eisley delivers on that in spades. Check out The Winter Song if you have any questions.

The Spits, TV Ghost, White Crime, Cop Warmth @ Rudyard’s - The Spits take a cue from the early Ramones albums and it’s pretty damn fun. Hey Ho Lets go!

Bell Biv Devoe @ House of Blues - If New Edition and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis mean anything to you, then you will know who these guys are. You are also really damn old.

Slobberbone, duneTX, Changoman @ The Continental Club - Sure Denton, TX Slobberbone do the alt-country thing really well but they also get the honor of counting Steven King a fan. King called “Gimme Back My Dog” one of the greatest Rock and Roll songs ever. Coming from the man who was killed by a cola machine in Maximum Overdrive, that is a high honor.

Lisa Morales @ McGonigel’s Mucky Duck - Miss Morales returns to the duck.

Unholy Trinity Birthday Bash, featuring Cerebral Bore, Insidious Decrepancy, Trifixion,
Merciless Precision, Prolicide, & Funeral Rites @ Walter’s - YUSS METAL!!!!!!

Truth & Salvage Company, Stonehoney @ Fitzgerald’s - Truth & Salvage Company are an Americana band from Cali on that label run by Chris Robinson (Black Crowes).

Kevin Welch @ Heights Live! - Well respected songsmith from Oklahoma who cut his chops writing songs for such country artists as Ricky Skaggs, Waylon Jennings, Patty Loveless, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood and Don Williams.

Saturday, June 4

The Tyburn Jig, Tim Qualls, Paco Estrada, The Hot Club of Cowtown @ The Continental Club - I know that I ususally just (for brevity) focus on the Headliner but the opening band, Austin’s Hot Club of Cowtown, are just too much fun to ignore. If you dig Western Swing and some solid fiddle make sure to get there in time to catch them.

Frontline Assembly, Die Krupps, DJ Acucrack @ Numbers - Industrial Canadians FA have been doing this so long some of you readers weren’t even born. Weird isn’t it.

Saxon King, Bagheera @ Rudyard’s - M-E-T-A-L

Bruce Robison & Kelly Willis @ Firehouse Saloon - A country music couple who I’m sure will be a nice antidote to all the noise and people crunch of Summerfest.

Kimberly M’Carver @ Anderson Fair - Anthropologist, Opera Singer, Vetrenarian, oh hell, why not just make some Country music too.

Slaid Cleaves @ McGonigel’s Mucky Duck - If you enjoy 8 minute epic folk songs about Canadian loggers, Cleaves is your man.

Sunday, June 5

R. Kelly, Keyshia Cole, Marsha Ambrosius @ Toyota Center - Please. please, please remember - there is nothign wrong with a little bump n’ grind.

Tuesday, June 7

Black Congress, Milk Music, Chest Pain @ Rudyard’s - The Congress delivers one of Houston’s most ass whoopin’ performances. I’m sure you are recovered enough after Monday to handle them… or maybe not.

Aiden, Eyes Set To Kill, Get Scared, Vampires Everywhere!, Dr. Acula @ Warehouse Live (Studio) - Attn Aiden. Makign shitty music is bad enough, you don’t have to dress like morons as well.

The Suffers, Idiginis, Pistoleros De Tejas, Die Tryin’ @ The Mink - The Suffers are a Reggae/ Ska band with members of Los Scarnales.

Wednesday, June 8

Buxton @ Under The Volcano - If any day was going to drive you crazy this is it. Three great shows to choose from.. The first being Buxton which given the intimacy of UTV, that should be really fun and cool.

Dick Dale, Laramie Dean @ 2016 Mainstage - Number two for you to choose from is the King of The Surf Guitar himself, Dick Dale.

Buddy Guy @ House of Blues - Holy shit! Last, but certainly not least, is Blues god, Buddy Guy. Seriously this is a hard fucking choice to make.

As always proper respects to Space City Rock without whose calendar this preview would be even more work than it already is.
