This Week’s Featured Show

Satuday, August 27

DiverseWorks FUNdraiser,

featuring Jana Hunter
The Wild Moccasins
sIngs
The Wiggins
& DJ Brett Koshkin
@ DiverseWorks
(1117 East Freeway; 8-11:30PM)

OK we already did a quickie interview with Jon Reed (aka The Wiggins) on Monday (link) but it bears repeating that this is a phenomenal line-up.  Jana Hunter is one the most distinctive songwriters and singers to come out  of Houston (well now she lives in Baltimore).  Wild Moccasins are some of the best pop to come out of this fair city.  sIngs is a scrabbly affair but one that plays its pop on a tightrope which makes for great performances.  The you have the aforementioned Wiggins with their weirdo pop from across some other dimension.  Seriously, it’s worth dropping in on and plus you have a chance to win a dinner date with Roy Mata!  Woo!

Thursday, August 25

Dead Mineral, Bald Eagle Burger @ The Mink - Local instrumental bad-asses Dead Mineral should get smacked in the head for covering Wham but scary enough they are good enough to almost pull get away with it…almost that is.

Nasty Habits, featuring Ceeplus Bad Knives, Fredster, & Mr. Castillo @ Numbers - DJ’s Yo!

Graham Wilkinson @ McGonigel’s Mucky Duck - mostly harmless light pop…well except for the white dude dreadlocks.
