Well the Continental Club is back at it with this year’s edition of their annual Rockabilly fest. They promise Rockabilly in all its flavors and some country bands too, DJs, dance contests, burlesque, BBQ, pin up contest, and car show because why the hell not, ya know? The genre still has its raving devoted fans and for Houston fans this is kind of their Rockabilly Hajj and accordingly the Continental Club tends to go all out when they do these. So if you have $40 in your pocket and three days (though there are tickets for individual days), you can get more than your share of reverb drenched guitars, double basses and dudes with pompadours.

The Pinkerton Thugs, The Scarred, Violent Affair, The Ballistics @ Mango’s –Why mention that these punks are from Kennebunkport, Maine punk because Kennebunkport is just fun to say aloud.
Michale Graves, Spastic Fit, The Bad Drugs, Mike Terror @ Walter’s –For folks like me, there is only one Misfits and that’s the one with Danzig but ya know, if Graves’ stint works for you, I’m cool with that.
Percy Sledge & Band @ Dosey Doe Coffee Company (The Woodlands) – By now, When a Man Loves a Woman is so played out by Romantic Comedies that it’s easy to forget what a bad ass Percy really is.

Friday – Sunday, July 20-22 – Fever Art Festival, featuring Purple, Space Villians, We Are Wolves, Kentucky Dirty, Tiziano Dominico, DJ Francis , Purple People, Swimsuit Edition, Flcon Fcker @ Sarita Ackerman Modern Art (7320 Ashcroft Dr., Suite 209) – I’m a little confused on this event but it seems to be some kind of thing with Art, Fashion, and Music event thing goin’ on in the East End. Some good folks in the music line up so sure why not, ya know?

Eagle Claw, From Beyond @ Rudyard’s – Heavy ass music from to heavy ass bands. So bummed that Richard Beeman is so smart he’s going to move to California to do that University thing. Go see FB while you still can.

Still, I gotta give it up to Joe and Huey for hangin’ in there and still being able to play a big venue like CWMP.
