Days N’ Daze

“They smashed out the lanterns and burned down the barns…”

Goofy and morbid “thrash-grass” is one way to describe Days N’ Daze, a local Houston band holding a record release show on Saturday, February 2 at Ballistics Skate House featuring eight bands and one poet. A table will also be set up for individuals to stop by and learn more about Houston Free Thinkers. Some of the performances to anticipate in addition to Days N’ Daze include: Dead Rabbits, Always Guilty, Alimanas and Lion Among Men. Look forward to side projects of Days N’ Daze Decathect, an electric  by Whitney and Jesse; don’t miss Marissa’s solo work.

“Our recordings don’t really give us justice. Our name has kind of been solidified by our live shows,” stated Whitney of Days N’ Daze. “It gets nuts! We try to get the crowd involved and since we are all acoustic we can pretty much take our instruments wherever we want.” With their witty, inspiring lyrics and their high-speed folk influences, the Days N’ Daze musical focus is on environmental destruction and also, “death is a prominent theme,” Jesse stated. Whitney described the environmental side as a byproduct of their residency in Rosenberg. “They are building up over our childhood. Everything that was beautiful now has a gray scale over it.”

This show will kick off their tour across the South promoting their new album. “We are regaining the strength within our band and having the community come with us,” Whitney explained. Between touring and working on new material, the group goes to over 30 schools across Houston to provide knowledge of local music and community involvement.

The event is sure to be a wild “free for all for music and for the community to get together.” Days N’ Daze will be giving away free copies of their new album and will allow free downloads the day after the show. The event is free and B.Y.O.B. beginning at 7 p.m. at Ballistics Skate House. For more information visit the event page.
