Grounded

Decrease Font Size Increase Font Size Text Size Print This Page

What: Grounded, a one-person play by George Brant

Where: The Alley Theatre

When: Running now through April 17

Why: A female Air Force pilot is reassigned to the Chair Force of drone warfare at a base outside of Las Vegas. Elizabeth Bunch as The Pilot gives a stunning performance and constantly commands the stage at the Alley’s intimate Neuhaus Theatre.

The Pilot obsesses over her job and draws parallels to the people she kills in her drone strikes and her own family. Bunch can be calm and assured one moment and hysterical the next. Direction by Jackson Gay, as well as Takeshi Kata’s scenic design and Paul Whitaker’s lighting scheme, give Grounded a constant mobility despite its confined space.
