OK folks, as you know, I’m in California right now so I am kind of kicking-in this week’s preview here and there where I have a few minutes.  The good news is that most of you guys already know about Lower Dens so not much introduction is necessary.

Me, I’m stoked that I’ll be back in town for this show as the sound was such a mess at their last show in Houston that it simply became a distraction.  This time at Fitz, I assume the band will have a much better time of it.  For those of you unfamiliar with Jana Hunter and her posse, let me just say that this former Houstonian is one of our best exports – her unique voice and intelligent songcraft is the kind of stuff that immediately makes people’s ears perk up and, if you don’t believe me,  here is a little sample for you…

El-P, Killer Mike, Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire, Despot @ Warehouse Live – C’mon El-P has that while Sci-Fi thing goin; how am I not gonna get behind that?

Poor Dumb Bastards,Project Grimm, Luxurata @ Rudyard’s – Party Punks, PDB are a band that take no prisoners with their shows and those easily offended should likely stay away from PDB.

Buddy Guy, Jonny Lang @ Arena Theater – classic blues bad ass Buddy Guy in the round.

Pride Houston Presents Wonderland, featuring DJ Michael Tank & more @ Bayou Music Center (formerly Verizon Wireless Theater) – pride it up with DJs

Ramblin’ Jack Elliott @ Old Quarter Acoustic Cafe (Galveston) - an American folk icon worth the trip down to the island

Skate & Rock, featuring The Dead Revolt, Omotai, & The Hates @ Lee & Joe Jamail Skatepark (103 Sabine)- the great series at Jamail Skate Park continues.

Murder The Stout, Spain Colored Orange, IAMDYNAMITE, Handsome Ransom @ The Continental Club – SCO still kickin’ it.

Texas Tornados, Jesse Dayton @ Crighton Theatre (Conroe) – Freddie and Doug may be gone but this classic Tejano band keeps tearing across Texas with Augie and Flaco.

The 2012 Hurricane Party, featuring Kenny Rogers @ Nutty Jerry’s (Winnie) - Wow, this sounds awesome, just sayin.

Van Halen, Kool & The Gang @ Toyota Center - Ok I am not really loving this whole VH reunion but Kool and the Gang is some genius booking.

Weapon, Withered, Blaspherian, Imperium Morte, Cronophage @ The White Swan - …you could see it at the white swan. Its a no brainier as to which is likely the better choice.

They, Who Sound featuring Patrick Wheeler/Joe Bird/Thomas Helton and   Paul Arámbula  @ Avant Garden - This week’s TWS features a Saxophonist from Phoenix.

Coldplay, Robyn, Wolf Gang @ Toyota Center (Mon.-Tues., June 25-26) – I’ll admit it there are a few Coldplay songs that I think are pretty good.

Lazer C**tzz, Hard Feelings, The Busy Kids @ East Side Social Center (4202 Canal St.) – April Brem’s other ( all girl) punk band.

Wednesday, June 27

Big Pokey, Lil Flip, ESG, Lil Keke, Yungstar @ Warehouse Live – Screwed Up Click’s big pokey is a good way to close out any week.

Puscifer, Carina Round @ Bayou Music Center - that high concept thing that guy from that band does at that place downtown.
